What is Public Law 102-477?
Under this act, known as our 477 program, we have implemented several services to help our tribal The P.L. 102-477 Act is the Indian Employment,
Training and Related Services Demonstration Act of 1992. This act allows Tribes to integrate employment,
training and related services into a single program with a single budget.
Members with higher education assistance, gain employment, get the training they need and provide general assistance and services.
Services Provided
General Assistance (GA) is temporary assistance that provides individuals within the
Red Lake Nation cash assistance to cover their basic needs.
There are two types of GA, which include
- Medical GA - Must provide verification stating unable to perform work.
- Job Search GA - Actively job searching and will need to complete certain participation
of classroom training.
Supportive Services offers assistance to relatives with employment or actively job searching which
may include the following:
-Work clothing
-Tools
-Training/Education
-Transportation
-Car Repair
-Car insurance
-Referrals to other programs/resources
Higher Education is also known as the Red Lake Scholarship
We offer both graduate and undergraduate scholarships,

Summer Youth Employment Program is available for youth ages 14-21
that provides on the job training at local participating locations during
the summer months.
Supported Work Experience is an opportunity to be employed on
a contract that may lead to full time employment.
Eligibility Requirements- each service has individual requirements
and required supporting documentation.
- Complete Intake application form
- Valid Identification
- Must be enrolled in a Federally Recognized Tribe
- Income eligible (200% FPG)
- Living within the Red Lake Nation boundaries (excludes Higher Education)
