CAREER DEVELOPMENT SERVICES (CDS)

What is Career Development Services (CDS)?

CDS department will provide trainings on helping our relatives create resumes, apply for employment, practice interview skills and obtain employment. We will also teach the skills you need to excel at your new job. Some ofther classes that will be available are driver's education, financial skills, organizational techniques, computer skills and self-help classes. Keep checking our Facebook page (Oshkiimaajitahdah ABE&CDS) for our new classes and upcoming guest speakers. There are so many new and exciting classes and presentations coming in the near future.

Eligibility Requirements:

Must be a TANF client
Make sure your Career Development Plan is up to date
Schedule classes through your case manager
Must be a 477 client

Basic Computer Skills - work at your own pace

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: How often can I take a class?

A:You can take any class as many times as you like but are only eligible for an incentive once per class.

Q: Are there incentives for completing a class? If so, what?

A:Yes, there are some incentives for fully completing a class. They are as follows: CDS offers $150.00 for completion, Financial Skills offers (2) two $50.00 gas/grocery vouchers, Driver's Ed offers $50.00 for earning driver's permit and $50.00 for earning driver's license

*Customer Service does not offer an incentive

Q: How many times can I earn an incentive?

A: You are eligible to earn an incentive just once during the length that you are on assistance.

Q: If I am not a TANF or 477 client, can I still take the class?

A: Unfortunately no, all of our students need to be either a TANF or 477 client.
